Mayor’s award for Outstanding Parent Participation at CPS
Patricia Hernandez, mother of 4 Waters’ students was honored by Mayor Daley and Arne Duncan at a luncheon for her endless hours of volunteering at our school. CONGRATULATIONS PATRICIA!

Ecology Notes:
We are finishing up planting of the classroom garden boxes. Have your child show you! Each child has a chance to plant and learn all the names of the flowers and vegetables. They each have a chance to look through microscopes at leaves, flowers, seeds and roots.

Waters received a $10,000 grant from the Bayer Corporation at the United Nations World Environment Day, June 5, at the Botanic Gardens.
The grant will be used to do a video documentary of the green transformation of the school grounds and lunchroom.

Remember every Wednesday evening, through the summer is garden night: work, play and eat! Six till dark.

Fund Raising News
Photos
For anyone who ordered photos that were originally displayed at the Silent Auction or ordered after, they will be available Monday June 9th either outside near the North doors in the morning or in the office after 9:15ish.

Silent Auction Proceeds
We raised approximately $30,000 between the raffle and silent auction.
The money will be used to support:
    Text books and workbooks for Language Arts and Math
    Foss Science program for K-8th grade
    Instructional furniture & equipment
    Communication and Marketing support
    Physical fitness heart monitors that link into the middle school
    laptops
    Potential support for a before school advanced math class for
    middle school students.
    Fulfilling teacher "wish wall" items
